B i o g r a p h y

Born in France, Ben started playing drums at the age of eight when his parents bought him a kit so that he would stop randomly banging on everything in the house. While taking drum lessons and listening to his father’s vinyl collection, Ben fell in love with music from the sixties and seventies. Bands such as the Beatles and Led Zeppelin remain some of his favorite bands today.

In his early teens, he took drum lessons and played in rock bands before deciding to enroll in the classical percussions department at the National Conservatory of Music of Toulon. It was at this school that Ben benefited greatly from study with the master George Van Gucht, co-founder of the famous percussion ensemble The Percussions of Strasbourg.

At this time, Ben initiated lessons on the piano and continued to be heavily influenced by his drum teachers. He also discovered the world of jazz and studied it intensely on the drum set. Ben quickly found himself playing gigs in major clubs and festivals of the south of France, where he met nationally renowned musicians who encouraged him to relocate to Paris. In the French capital, he furthered his reputation by playing with many international recognized musicians such as Jerry Bergonzi, Alain Jean-Marie, Franck Amsallem(..). Recording work and touring followed, including an appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival. In addition to his work as a performer, Ben has been a drum instructor and a freelance writer for the main French drum magazine, Batteur Magazine.

After a decade spent playing concerts and traveling in France, Austria, Africa, Switzerland, and New York, Ben decided to move to L.A. Having always expressed a deep interest in America and its musical culture, he found a new home in the Californian city. It was there that Ben started to play drums in major clubs and venues including the Fonda Theater, the Troubadour, the Viper Room, the Bootleg Theater, the Satellite among others. He also went on tour and performed at clubs and theaters throughout the US.

Always wanting to expand his knowledge, he decided to further explore the production side of the music business and studied music production at UCLA Extension Program, where he graduated with distinction. Eager to turn theory into reality, he directed and produced his first music video. As a drummer, Ben reunited with his first musical tastes playing and recording for many bands and artists such as Nick Waterhouse, The Wallflowers, Mike Score(A Flock Of Seagulls), Linda Perry, Chris Price, Taylor Locke, Emitt Rhodes, Roger Manning Jr.,(Beck/Jellyfish), Joey Molland(Badfinger),Pete Molinari, Mark Stoermer(The Killers), Bleu McAuley, Yard of Blondes, Shay Astar, Fernando Perdomo, Denny Laine(Wings/Moody Blues), Baby Alpaca, Kelly Jones, Spirit Kid, Alex Jules, Dean Ford, Suzy and the Lifeguard, etc.
